In a moving gesture, Mahindra Group chairman Anand Mahindra has rewarded Bihar's Laungi Bhuiyan who over a span of 30 years dug a three-kilometres-long canal, with a tractor, reports Livemint.
Bhuiyan who hails from Bihar's Gaya district received the tractor free of cost yesterday (19 September) from the Mahindra dealer in the area.
Anand Mahindra had said that he would consider it an honour to have Bhuiyan use his tractor. He said this in response to a tweet which highlighted that Bhuiyan, who had dug the canal to irrigate his parched farmlands. Mahindra also said, "I think his canal is as impressive as the Taj or the Pyramids."
Mahindra's dealer from Gaya who did the needful on behalf of billionaire, Siddharth Vishwakarma shared, "Anand Mahindra saw a tweet of Laungi Bhuiyan and said I will be fortunate to give him a tractor. Following this, area office received a mail to gift Laungi a tractor."
Upon receiving the tractor, Laungi said, "I am very happy today."
