Travelling From Delhi To Punjab To Get Easier Soon: Chandigarh–Ambala Greenfield Corridor Nearing Completion

The Rs 3,167 crore Chandigarh–Ambala Greenfield Corridor, a 61.23 km six-lane expressway is in its final stages, promising to ease congestion across Chandigarh, Zirakpur, Panchkula, Mohali, and Kharar, reported The Tribune.

Spread over 395 hectares, the project is designed to provide faster, smoother links between Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir.

The expressway is divided into two packages. Package-2, a 30 km stretch from IT City Chowk in Mohali to Kurali on the Kurali–Siswan road, is 95 per cent complete and expected to open by 30 September.

Known as the Mohali–Kurali bypass, it will create a Greenfield alignment bypassing NH-205-A, diverting traffic away from busy Mohali, Kharar, and Kurali, and providing a direct connection from Delhi and Haryana towards Mohali International Airport Chowk.

Package-1, covering 31.23 km from Devinagar on the Ambala–Hisar road to IT City Chowk, is 65 per cent complete and targeted for opening by March 2026.

It will feature service roads, flyovers, bridges, and multiple underpasses to ensure seamless travel and improved logistics between Chandigarh and Ambala.

The corridor also includes a spur to Lalru and a four-lane section in Punjab, extending connectivity deeper into the state.

Its high embankment design and access-controlled structure will significantly cut travel time between Chandigarh and Delhi while opening up new economic opportunities along its route.

Officials note that the project is already driving real estate growth around IT City Mohali, New Chandigarh, Kharar, and Kurali.
