The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to leave a strong imprint on the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) as initial trends showed the ruling party at the centre leading others impressively.
Telugu news Channel TV9 reported at 10.30 am of the trends that were available for 136 of the 150 seats, the BJP was way ahead taking the lead in 82.
The initial trends are based on the counting of postal ballots. A clear trend will likely emerge by noon. BJP, however, is confident of putting up a good show even if it does not get a majority.
The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), ruling party in Telangana state as well as GHMC, was trailing, leading in 34 seats, while the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) led from 18 seats.
The Congress was leading from two seats while the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) does seem like opening its account.
The BJP had turned the GHMC into a prestigious fight as it sees a chance to emerge as a major force in Telangana with Congress and TDP being marginalised.
The recent victory in the Dubakka Assembly polls has also energized the ruling party at the Centre.
Sniffing an opportunity, the BJP had brought in an array of star leaders, led by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, while others such as Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, BJP president J P Nadda, Textile Minister Smriti Irani and young members of Parliament Tejasvi Surya to campaign in the polls.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, probably, gave an indication of the likely trend, lauding the efforts of Telangana BJP led by Bandi Sanjay.

The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
