A luxury train operated by Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), that aims to promote Buddhist tourism in India, is set to be launched from December. The package offered is for eight days and seven nights, and covers most prominent Buddhist destinations.
The itinerary includes places such as Nalanda, Rajgir, Bodhgaya, Sarnath, Lumbini, Varanasi, Agra, Sravasti, Kushinagar. Having a completely air-conditioned set-up, the luxury trains offers accommodation at the best hotels, quality transfer buses, multi-lingual tour guides, travel insurance etc.
The 12-coach train has two restaurants, safety lockers for the guests, electronically operated blinds on windows, bathroom and other facilities. New rakes are being used to give a jerk-free experience on-board the Indian Railways. The AC first class can accommodate 96 guests and the second class will be able to fit about 60, Financial Express reported.
The package rates are out as well, with the first class being priced at Rs 84,560 and Rs 69,190 receptively for the second class.
