Budget 2022: Govt To Undertake Big Steps For Urban Development, Spend Rs 250 Crore For Establishing Centres of Excellence

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday (1 February) presented the Union Budget 2022-23 in the Parliament.
In the budget speech, the Finance Minister announced that the government will be modernising the building by-laws, transit oriented development and also town planning schemes to bring about greater urban capacity building.
She further explained that the government will be establishing Centres of Excellence with a total outlay of Rs 250 crore for development in the urban sector.
The Finance Minister additionally explained that the government will be planning Transit Oriented Decelopment with the Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) under the Atal Mission for Rejuventation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme.
