Commenting on the progress made by the country in clean energy generation, Piyush Goyal has noted that solar generation increased by 10 times over the last ten years.

Under the leadership of PM Modi, India launched International Solar Alliance (ISA) in 2015, the world's first intergovernmental initiative to promote efficient exploitation of solar energy to reduce dependence on fossil fuels.

According to a new report, India is expected to add 15,860 megawatts (MW) of renewable energy capacity in the current year (2019), up by fifty per cent from last year. Most of it will come from solar energy panels.

Also, the world’s largest solar power pant will be installed in Ladakh with a capacity of 5000 MW.
