Addressing Members of Parliament in the Lok Sabha during his budget speech, interim Financial Minister Piyush Goyal spoke of the present NDA government’s achievements in the medical sector, detailing how 14 new prestigious AIIMS institutes had been announced since 2014 and how the ‘Ayushman Bharat’ programme had been launched to provide medical cover to 50 crore citizens.
Currently, 21 AIIMS colleges are either operational or in the process of being set up, with the latest one coming up in Haryana.
Goyal also revealed that the government’s Ayushman Bharat scheme had already saved Rs 3,000 crore in medical expenses for poor families.
