To evade fatal sniper attacks from Pakistan that have claimed the lives of many personnel, BSF ( Border Security Force), has developed a bulletproof bunker that allows the soldiers to keep vigil through a periscope, as reported by The Indian Express.

Earlier the Pakistani snipers would target the BSF through a hole in the sandbag wall, kept by BSF personnel to fire guns and keep vigil. Now,however, the wall will be completely packed, except for a small hole to fire the gun, thereby reducing the chances of casualties in sniper attacks.

BSF Director General, R K Mishra, says, “We are very concerned about sniper attacks. To deal with it, we have developed a bullet-proof bunker from where personnel can keep watch and retaliate to attacks without the threat of being hit by a sniper. It is at the moment being used as a pilot. We are soon going to replicate it on all borders”

The bunker is made of thick armour and bullet-proof glass and has normal as well as thermal imaging cameras to ensure constant surveillance, even without manual attention. It's portable making it easier to shift vigil posts.

BSF also has made tactical improvements to avenge its fallen soldiers by launching several operations in the past year against Pakistani forces, namely the Bhim I and Bhim II.

Mishra also expressed concern over the killing and mutilation of its BSF personnel by Pakistans’s Border Action Team (BAT) in September. He added that a befitting reply had been given to them.
