CBSE Class X Results: Board To Investigate 137 Cheating Cases; Five-Fold Increase From 2018

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) which announced the results of Class X on Monday (6 May) saw 91 per cent of the candidates clearing the examination.

The board also reported that the number of cheating cases booked was 137, a five-fold increase from the previous year 2018, reports India Today.

CBSE conducted its Class X exam in 6,000 centres across India and abroad between 21 February and 29 March 2019 where a total of 18,27,472 students registered.

The board reported that the Ajmer region from Rajasthan recorded the highest number of cheating cases at 59, Chennai with 30 cases, followed by Panchkula at 22. Trivandrum region which has the best pass percentage did not report any such incidents. The other cities which recorded such cases were Bhubaneshwar (five), Guwahati (six), Prayagraj (four), Dehradun (eight) and Pune (one).

The board which has a committee appointed oversees these cases, the Unfair Means Committee then considers them on a case by case basis and awards the punishment.
