With the menace of pollution having taken over the capital city of Delhi, pushing the levels of toxic gases, fumes and particles in the city's air to 'severe plus' category, the Union Government stepped in to take action yesterday (3 November), reports Asian News International (ANI).
The Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi held a high-level review meeting with senior-most officials from the states of Punjab and Haryana and from the Union Territory of Delhi yesterday and took a number of decisions to get a hold on the situation.
Union Government has deployed 300 teams across the National capital region (NCR) to tackle the pollution woes around Delhi, with special focus on the seven industrial clusters and the major traffic corridors in the NCR. Similar arrangements have also been made for the states of Punjab and Haryana.
Meanwhile, the Chief Secretaries of Punjab, Haryana and Delhi have been directed to monitor the pollution levels and situation on a 24x7 basis, with the Cabinet Secretary having been directed to monitor the situation on a daily basis.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
