Charanjit Singh Channi Set To Be The Next Chief Minister Of Punjab

Charanjit Singh Channi has been unanimously elected as the new Punjab Chief Minister, Congress senior leader Harish Rawat announced on Twitter.
"It gives me immense pleasure to announce that Sh. #CharanjitSinghChanni has been unanimously elected as the Leader of the Congress Legislature Party of Punjab," party General Secretary, and Punjab in charge, Harish Rawat, said in a tweet.
Channi is the first Dalit leader to be selected as chief minister of the state.
The development comes a day after Captain Amarinder Singh stepped down as the Chief Minister of Punjab.
