The Institute of Chartered Accountancy of India (ICAI) in a notice dated 21 September has announced that it is moving towards a digital evaluation of all Intermediate and Foundation level answer sheets for the November 2019 and May 2020 exams.
This will result in doing away with the physical handling of the copies, avoiding marks variation and eliminating totalling errors.
ICAI has also announced that CA aspirants would be awarded step marking and would be enforced during re-evaluation in case it was not awarded in the first place.
In order to further make the system foolproof of errors, a central evaluation is being carried out of various CA papers where answer sheets are evaluated by examiners in the supervision of Head Examiner/Associate Head Examiners.
In case of multiple choice questions, OMR based evaluation would be carried out to avoid subjectivity.
The examiners for various CA exams would be selected on the basis of an online test covering their subject expertise. They would have to appear for this test every three years.
