Authorities in Gujarat cancelled the written exam for recruitment of constables in the state hours before its commencement on Sunday (2 November), after the question paper got leaked, Times of India has reported.
As per the report, 8.75 lakh candidates were scheduled to appear for the exam which was to start at 3 pm in 2,440 centres all across the state. As per chairman of Lokrakshak Recruitment Board, Vikas Sahay which conducts the examination, it was called off as soon as the leak came to light.
"Somebody sent me a list of answers, and they were answers to the questions set for the examination. We called off the examination as it was clear that the paper had been leaked," said Sahay adding that a police probe would be instituted in the matter.
He added that they have no information of the place from where the paper got leaked as strong rooms with CCTV cameras and security guards were set up in every district to store the papers.
State Chief Minister Vijay Rupani had directed the home department to take immediate action in the matter.
