Former NITI Aayog CEO Sindhushree Khullar, a retired IAS officer who was posted as the additional secretary in the finance ministry during the INX Media case developments was called by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday morning (26 August).
Accused in the case, former finance minister P Chidambaram will face Khullar while the agency would continue questioning her today. Yesterday, it couldn’t be completed as Chidambaram had to be taken to a special court, reports Hindustan Times.
Sanction of the government has been sought by the CBI to prosecute Khullar in the case forwarded by the Central Vigilance Commission.
Meanwhile, the special court on Monday extended the CBI custody of Chidambaram till 30 August after the Solicitor General Tushar Mehta and Additional Solicitor General KN Nataraj, representing the CBI, informed the court that the custody period should be increased as Chidambaram was confronted with a co-accused from 23 August to 26 August.
