United States President Donald Trump on Tuesday (22 September) blamed the Chinese government for the global spread of the Covid-19 and demanded that the United Nations must held China accountable for "unleashing" the Covid-19 causing SARS-CoV-2 virus onto the world.
"We must hold accountable the nation which unleashed this plague onto the world: China," Trump said in a speech to the United Nation’s General Assembly.

"In the earliest days of the virus, China locked down travel domestically while allowing flights to leave China and infect the world. China condemned my travel ban on their country, even as they cancelled domestic flights and locked citizens in their homes," Trump said in a pre-recorded speech.
Trump also slammed the World Health Organisation (WHO) for it's role in the early days of the pandemic and alleged that the global health body was "controlled by China".
"The Chinese government and the World Health Organization—which is virtually controlled by China—falsely declared that there was no evidence of human-to-human transmission. Later, they falsely said people without symptoms would not spread the disease," he said.
The US President also asked the United Nations to hold China accountable for its actions.
