The Chinese People's Liberation Army mutilated the bodies of some of Indian Army soldiers who lost their lives during the Galwan Valley clash on Monday night (15 June), India Today has reported.
This dastardly act by China has led to intense anger among the Indian troops which continues to simmer among the ranks. While anger continues to rise among army units over the brutal killing of their colleagues, efforts are being made by senior officers to calm tempers.
The situation at other flash points like Pangong Tso - which has seen clashes between the soldiers of two armies (at a lower level) is also being monitored.
While India and China have conducted Major General level talks in a bid to diffuse the situation, they have remained inconclusive.
The Chinese troops in a premeditated move attacked Indian soldiers on the night of 15 June after refusing to vacate illegal camps made in the Galwan valley despite agreements. The attack resulted in the death of 20 Indian Army soldiers including Commanding Officer Colonel Santosh Babu.
The Indian Army in a fierce retaliation inflicted over 40 casualties on the Chinese side. A Chinese Commanding Officer also died in the face-off.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
