Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Hou Yangi is now pressurising the leaders of Nepal's Communist Party to settle their differences towards a status quo, Hindustan Times has reported.
As per the report, with differences emerging in the public between Nepali Prime Minister K P Oli and Communist Party Co-Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, a senior party leader even asked Yangi whether China will allow the dissent to simmer or would action be taken to combat it.
The report adds that the Chinese Ambassador's actions which exceed her diplomatic brief are being criticised in the Nepali media over the dept of Chinese penetration in the country.
It was earlier reported that China’s blatant efforts to save Oli has riled many of Nepal’s politicians, diplomats and civil society leaders and is earning Beijing a bad name.
Chinese envoy Hou Yanqi’s meetings with top leaders of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) and the country’s President have invited sharp criticism and also triggered street protests which may intensify in the coming days.
