The Christian community in Telangana has created an outfit representing prominent churches including the catholic and protestant churches of different denominations to demand reservation for three constituencies in the Telangana Assembly.

The community leaders demanded that Christians be given tickets in the Secunderabad, Warangal and Karimnagar constituencies. They added that the community is open to poll tickets from any political party.

Fr. Dr. Anthonyraj Thumma, executive secretary of FTC, at a media briefing said, “The community has enough strength that it can play a deciding role in 38 to 40 constituencies. Though we play such a vital role in the formation of the government, we have not received due credit” as reported by The Hindu.

Apart from demanding seats, the FTC has also asked for Scheduled Caste status for Dalit Christians.
