The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has said in an RTI reply that the board is in the process of setting up a Citizen's Charter, reports Daily Pioneer.
The Citizen’s Charter initiative was started in 1997, and the central concept behind the idea was to provide a single platform in every government (Central and State) to improve the quality of public services.
Further, the charter also seeks to impart knowledge to citizens about his/her rights and other relevant rules and regulations.
The reply came when advocate Mohit Kumar Gupta filed a Right to Information (RTI) to the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) seeking information about the citizen charter after he found no information regarding the same on the website of the CBSE, Delhi University, Indian Institute of Technology and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).
The CBSE, JNU and DU do not have a Citizen’s Charter. “It is informed that the preparation of Citizen’s Charter in respect of CBSE is in process,” said the CBSE reply.
The spirit of transparency and accountability must prevail, and grievance redress for students be incorporated through strict implementation of a Citizen’s Charter,” said Gupta.

Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
