Senior Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia went against the official party line by expressing his support for the abolition of Article 370.
Scindia in a tweet stated that, “I support the move on Jammu And Kashmir and Ladakh and its full integration into union of India. Would have been better if constitutional process had been followed. No questions could have been raised then. Nevertheless, this is in our country’s interest and I support this”.

Would have been better if constitutional process had been followed. No questions could have been raised then. Nevertheless, this is in our countryâs interest and I support this.
This stance by Scindia is in contrast to the Congress party which opposed the Government over this issue in both houses, with its Lok Sabha leader Adhir Chowdhury even refusing to accept Kashmir as India’s internal matter.
Incidentally, Scindia is not the only Congress party leader to have broken the party line and hailed the government on the development. Senior Congress party leader Janardan Dwivedi and Rae Bareli MLA Aditi Singh also hailed the move by the Union Government.
Furthermore, the move also received support from the Congress party's chief whip in the Rajya Sabha, Bhubaneswar Kalita, who resigned from the party and the Rajya Sabha as a sign of protest against the party's stance on the matter.
