An FIR has been registered over animal sacrifice at a Hindu temple in Kamptee near Nagpur after they were directed to do so by MP Maneka Gandhi, Times of India has reported.
Gandhi had also strongly condemned this action.
As per the report, the incident took place last Tuesday when an individual identified as Shrushti Dhoble noticed the animal sacrifice and had a heated argument with locals who stopped her from entering the temple.
Dhoble subsequently contacted the city's animal rights activist Karishma Galani who raised the matter with Gandhi. She promptly reacted and directed cops to take urgent action. The cops then rushed into the temple and seized two goats.
The cops subsequently filed an FIR in the matter and booked unknown accused under various sections of the IPC, Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1960 and Maharashtra Animal Preservation (Amendment) Act, 1995.
Gandhi has also said that animal sacrifice at religious places in the country is illegal and warned of strict action against the same. She also claimed that cops are very active in taking action when it comes to such incidents.

The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
