Managing director of Bajaj Auto Rajiv Bajaj has taken on his father Rahul after the latter publicly in a discussion with Home Minister Amit Shah alleged that the Narendra Modi led central government is not open to criticism.
In an interview with Economic Times, Rajiv Bajaj in response remarked that for his father a “durbar is like a red carpet to a bull”.
He added that his father revels in such an opportunity but claimed that he is personally unsure about the need to raise such a subject at a public meet being held to celebrate corporate excellence.
“Yes, he has always been uncommonly courageous in this respect and people do admire him for it. Yet I also remember reading somewhere that ‘courage is knowing that it may hurt and doing it anyway. Stupidity is the same. And that’s what makes life hard”, Rajiv Bajaj was quoted as saying.
“That’s why nobody joins him, everybody cheers from the sidelines”, Rajiv Bajaj added.
Rajiv Bajaj also added that while he has been critical of the government on various issues, it has rarely been the case that it has left a poor taste in the minds of the government.
He also recounted how in case of his company’s long delayed quadcycle project he was immediately granted an audience by Road Transport Minster Nitin Gadkari and NITI Aayog CEO. The government then approved the project - pending for eight years, within the next 12 months.
