The deadline for mandatory linking of Aadhaar to avail benefits of various government schemes would be extended till 31 March next year, the Centre told the Supreme Court on today, according to the Indian Express.
A notification in this regard will be issued tomorrow by the government, Attorney General K K Venugopal told the apex court. The last date for linking Aadhaar to mobile numbers, however, will remain 6 February as per the Supreme Court order issued earlier, the Attorney General added.
The top court reportedly said that it would set up a Constitution bench as early as next week to hear pleas seeking a stay on Centre’s move to link Aadhaar with various government schemes and services.

The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
