Work on a section of Pink Line, connecting Shiv Vihar and Trilokpuri in east Delhi, will be completed soon and be available for public use by Diwali, Press Trust of India has reported.
This section is fully elevated and has 15 stations - Trilokpuri Sanjay Lake, East Vinod Nagar-Mayur Vihar-II , Mandawali-West Vinod Nagar, IP Extension, Anand Vihar ISBT, Karkardooma, Karkardooma Court, Krishna Nagar, East Azad Nagar, Welcome, Jaffrabad, Maujpur- Babarpur, Gokulpuri, Johri Enclave and Shiv Vihar.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said that safety inspections on the 17.86 km-long section are underway, IANS has reported.
The first part of this Pink line was opened on 14 March which connected Majlis Park to Durgabai Deshmukh South Campus. Following this, the Majlis Park-Lajpat Nagar corridor was inaugurated on 6 August.
The importance of this part is underscored by the presence of three interchange stations - Anand Vihar (with Blue Line), Karkardooma (with Blue Line) and Welcome (with Red Line). Once this section is fully functional, the Pink Line, running from Majlis Park to Shiv Vihar, will be the longest on the Delhi Metro network claimed the IANS report.
