The Delhi Police have arrested three persons for duping Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's daughter of Rs 34,000 in an e-commerce fraud, reports Hindustan Times.
"Three accused named Sajid, Kapil, and Manvendra have been arrested for duping Arvind Kejriwal's daughter. One main accused is absconding who used to make fake accounts on e-commerce sites," News agency ANI reported citing sources.
The e-commerce fraud happened on 7th February when Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's daughter was selling a second-hand sofa online.
"The person, who posted himself as a customer, asked her to scan a bar code after sending a small amount on her account. And when she scanned the barcode, the money debited from her account in two installments, first Rs 20,000 and then Rs 14,000," police had said.
The fraudsters approached Arvind Kejriwal's daughter on a web portal, showing interest in buying the second-hand sofa set she had put on sale. They finalized a deal and in order to verify her bank account details, the man sent some amount to her account. Thereafter, he sent a QR code and asked her to scan it to receive the money.
When she scanned the code, a sum of Rs 20,000 got debited to her account. Subsequently, when she questioned about it he sent another code and asked her to follow the same procedure for receiving the money. When she scanned the code, she lost another Rs 14,000. Following the realization of the fraud, she approached the Civil Lines police station and lodged a complaint.
