Delhi Police yesterday (4 April) registered an FIR against controversial Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)'s MLA Amanatullah Khan for threatening to behead Dasna temple’s head priest Yati Narsinghanand Saraswati, reports Indian Express.
Khan had threatened Saraswati on Twitter for allegedly hurting religious sentiments with his remarks on Prophet Mohammed during a press conference in Delhi. Acting on the same, taking suo moto cognisance, Delhi Police lodged an FIR under Sections 153-A and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Parliament Street police station against Khan.
Earlier, Khan had also filed a complaint against Saraswati at Delhi's Jamia Nagar police station seeking legal action against the latter. In his complaint, Khan said, "There are uncouth words that are below the standards of being repeated. It is needless to say that such statements for cheap publicity and personal gain hurts sentiments of Muslims at large."
In the complaint, Khan had added that Saraswati had hurt religious sentiments of the Muslim community not only in India but all over the world, with knowledge and intention.
