Delivering Liquid Gold: PM Modi To Lay Foundation Stone For Paradip-Hyderabad And Bokaro-Angul Pipelines Today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to lay the foundation stone for the construction of Paradip-Hyderabad petroleum product pipeline and Bokaro-Angul gas pipeline on 24 December (2018), reports Economic Times (ET).

“The Paradip-Hyderabad pipeline project involves laying of a 1,212-km pipeline from Paradip to Hyderabad traversing through 16 districts of Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. It will cover 330km and entail an expenditure of Rs 923 crore,” said P C Chaubey, an executive with IndianOil.

On the other hand, the Bokaro-Angul gas pipeline will be 667-km long, covering six districts in Orissa and another five in Jharkhand. The project, which will cost Rs 3,400 crore, is expected to completed by December 2020. These two pipelines will provide petrol and gas for domestic, industrial and commercial use.

In November 2018, PM Modi also laid the foundation stone for city gas distribution (CGD) projects in 65 Geographical Areas (GAs) in 129 Districts of the country. The project, with a price tag of Rs 8,000 crores, will deliver “convenient, environment-friendly and cheaper natural gas for almost half of the country’s population.”

After decades of delay, the NDA government has revived the TAPI ( Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India ) gas pipeline project which will help monetise Turkmenistan's resource-rich Galkynysh Gas Field and help India meet its energy needs.
