The demand for early building of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya is making pro-Hindu temple groups pressure the NDA government into action. One of the steps in this regard has been taken by VHP (Vishwa Hindu Parishad), which is planning to hold a congregation of Hindu priests called Dharam Sansad at Ramlila Grounds in New Delhi on 9 December.
The timing is critical because it’s two days before the start of the essential Winter Session of Parliament which will continue till 8 January. It also comes after the polling ends for the five states.
VHP spokesperson Vinod Bhansal said, “The entire effort is to build a grand temple in Ayodhya. We want to convey to the parliamentarians that this issue is beyond party lines and all political parties and their representatives should come forward to support the demand for a temple in Ayodhya. Our initial slogan was Ram Lalla aayenge, mandir wahin banayenge (Ram will come, the temple will be constructed)’ but now we have changed the slogan. Now, the new slogan is Ram Lalla aayenge, mandir bhavya banayenge (Ram will come, a grand temple will be built)’.”
Apart from this event, the VHP is planning to hold smaller versions in parliamentary constituencies across the country, reports LiveMint.
