The All India Trinamool Congress (AITC), led by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, today (30 January) announced its decision to not be present in parliament for the first two days of the budget session that is to begin tomorrow (31 January).
In a statement released online, the party said that it was boycotting the session to protest over the NDA government’s demonetisation exercise that was carried out in November 2016, which the ATIC alleges was done without taking the Lok Sabha into confidence and that bank withdrawals are still restricted.

The party also claims that the arrest of its MP, is a case of political vendetta and misuse of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) by the ruling government.
