Kolkata Metro has announced that it will run night-long services from Mahasaptami to Mahanavami during Durga Puja, Times of India has reported. Kolkata Metro general manager PC Sharma informed the media regarding this service on Wednesday. Further, he added that additional security arrangements will be made during the festival.
“People from the city and outside come for pandal-hopping during Durga Puja and use the Metro Railway as a convenient and fast transport,” PC Sharma said. Kolkata Metro has planned to run 224 services between Noapara in the north, and Kavi Subhash station in the south from 1.40 pm to 4.00 am the next morning.
On October 13, extra metro services will be run from 8 am to 11 pm. On Dussehra, 118 services will be run from 1.40 pm to 10.00 pm.
As part of ‘Swacch Prasadhan Day’, Kolkata Metro Railways had recently opened public toilets inside two of its stations Shahid Khudiram and Noapara Metro Station. Metro Railway plans to construct toilets in two more stations by Durga Puja, said the Metro Railways Chief Public Relations Officer Indrani Banerjee.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
