Serial entrepreneur and chief executive officer (CEO) of electric car manufacturer Tesla, Elon Musk has said that Tesla cars could be running on Indian roads in a year's time, reports Economic Times.
The development was made public by IIT Madras in a statement after a team from the ace institution called 'Avishkar Hyperloop' had participated in the finals of the prestigious 'SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition 2019.'
The team had asked Musk over his plans to bring Tesla to India, to which Musk had responded affirmatively that it is probably going to happen in a year's time. It should be noted that in March 2019, Musk had tweeted "Would love to be there this year. If not, definitely next! India."
It should be noted that in 2015, Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi had visited the Tesla headquarters at Palo Alto in California during his official visit to the United States (US), during which Musk had given PM a tour of Tesla's electric car plant.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
