Radical Islamist organisations in Kashmir and Kerala are receiving funding from Turkish outfits which are backed by Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Hindustan Times has reported.
The report claims that officials in New Delhi have noted that Turkey has emerged as the largest hub of anti-India activities after Pakistan has also also been involved in efforts to radicalise Indian Muslims recruit Islamic fundamentalists.
The Turkish government which had funded Kashmiri separatist Syed Ali Shah Geelani for years has ramped up its efforts in recent years which includes funding religious seminaries and flying out new radicals to Turkey to enforce the teachings.
"We are also aware of some people from this group travelling to Qatar to meet some people from Turkey to seek funding for their activities...that amounts as high as Rs 40 lakh are being offered to preach radical Islam in Kerala", an official has been quoted as saying.
