With the results of the Telangana Assembly elections declared yesterday (11 December), several politicians face the next challenge of staying true to their own words. From Revanth Reddy having vowed to quit politics to Bandla Ganesh saying he will cut his throat if the Congress lost, bizarre statements were made before the elections.
Uttam Kumar Reddy, the former air force pilot and current Telangana Congress Chief had vowed in 2016 not to shave till his party comes to power. The reaction of the generally well-groomed Congress leader with a habit of remaining clean shaved is anticipated by the public, as not only his rival party TRS has retained power, but Congress has lost more seats than the last election, as reported by Deccan Chronicle.
Reddy, a four-time MLA flew in fighter squadrons in his early days for the Indian Air Force. After working as a Controller of Security, Protocol, Administration, Foreign trips of President at Rashtrapati Bhavan, he worked in the former CM Kiran Kumar Reddy’s Cabinet as a Housing Minister and was appointed as the president of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee. He is one of the only major Congress to not lose to TRS wave in recently concluded Telangana elections.
