Fake Degree Scam In Himachal Pradesh: ED Attaches Assets Worth Rs 194.17 Crore Belonging To A Private University

In a major development, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has busted a fake degree scam in the State of Himachal Pradesh and has attached assets worth Rs 194.17 crore belonging to a Solan based private university, reports Livemint.
Other than the attachment of assets, the authorities have so far arrested eight people in the case which include the key accused and two people who are presently in judicial custody.
The development gains much significance as the investigations so far have revealed that the fake degrees arising out of the scam were sold in as many as 17 States as per the details shared by Sanjay Kundu who is the Director-General of Police (DGP), Himachal Pradesh.
Kundu has also shared that the State's police is working along with the Financial Intelligence Unit, ED and the Income Tax Department in the case and that further investigation is presently underway.
