Sartaj, father of the Islamic State (IS) terrorist, who was killed in Lucknow in a 12-hour encounter on Wednesday, has refused to take his son’s body for last rites.
Sartaj called his son ‘anti-national’ and informed that he left home after being beating for not working according to his advice. “Yeh desh-hitt mein nahi tha hum usse naraz hain, aise deshdrohi ki laash nahi lenge,” ANI quoted him as saying.

Reports suggest that the terrorist was linked to the explosion on a train in Madhya Pradesh which injured nine people on Tuesday morning and was an active member of the terror group’s Khorasan module. IS had announced its expansion to 'Khorasan province' in January 2015 and claimed responsibility for the deadly shrine blast in Pakistan that killed over 90 people.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
