Firebrand Former IPS Officer K Annamalai Who Was Known As Karnataka's Singham, To Join BJPK Annamalai was the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Bengaluru South) prior to his resignation

Former IPS officer K Annamalai who had quit the Indian Police Service (IPS) last year at the age of 35 is all set to join the BJP today.

As per reports, Annamalai said that he is a nationalist at heart and is also an admirer of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also said that the BJP is the only party which does not have nepotism and sycophancy.

He is expected to join the BJP later today in the presence of National General Secretary P Muralidhar Rao and Tamil Nadu BJP State President L Murugan.

Annamalai a native of Tamil Nadu had served in the Karnataka cadre for 10 years before quitting the service in 2019. It was heavily speculated that he would start a political career after his resignation and may join the BJP.

Annamalai, fondly known as the Singham of Karnataka, had held the post Deputy Commissioner of Police (Bengaluru South) prior to his resignation. Annamalai claimed that his decision to resign was inspired by his trip to Kailash Manasarovar which was an eye-opener for him.

Annamalai had also said that his decision to quit the service was a well thought one and the death of Madhukar Shetty, a Karnataka cadre IPS officer, made him re-examine his own life.

He was well known for cracking down on criminals in the state and prided on having a clean record.
