Delhi Fire Services will induct two firefighting robots as Fire service week commences from Wednesday, 14 April according to a report published in OneIndia.
This year's theme is "Maintenance of Fire Safety Equipment Is Key To Mitigate Fire Hazards".
DFS chief Atul Garg said that the robots had been bought from Australia last year. "These robots will be remote controlled. They'll be able to throw water at a distance at difficult spots," he said.
The robots will help in increasing efficiency and effective response.Garg added that "the equipment includes cameras, drones, concrete cutters among other things."
Currently, the robotic firefighter system is being used in Mumbai and Kolkata, according to a report.
DFS has outsourced 500 fire operators, and a proposal for 706 such posts has been received by Delhi Sub-Ordinate Staff Selection Board, DSSSB.
Delhi government has also allotted 14.5 acres of gram sabha land at Budhanpur Majra village for a fire training institute.
DFS has 64 fire stations as of now, and two sites at IFC Ghazipur and IFC Narela have been allotted by the Delhi Development Authority DDA.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
