The Ministry of Home Affairs has cancelled the foreign funding licence for non-governmental organisation (NGO) Act Now for Harmony and Democracy (ANHAD), reported India Today.

Like in the case of Teesta Setalvad’s NGOs recently, the foreign funding licence for ANHAD was renewed earlier and then revoked. The MHA has reportedly renewed licences for several NGOs inadvertently. Setalwad's Centre for Justice and Peace, Zakir Naik's Islamic Research Foundation and Greenpeace India are among these NGOs.
ANHAD is led by social activist Shabnam Hashmi, who champions causes like gender rights, secularism, democracy and human rights, among other things.
