Former Indian Police Service (IPS) officers from Gujarat DG Vanzara and Narendra Amin were felicitated by an organisation named “Jaher Nagrik Sanman Samiti” in Ahmedabad on Sunday (19 May), reports Times of India.
According to the report, the ex-IPS officers, both of whom were recently discharged by the court in the Ishrat Jahan encounter case, were accompanied by a procession from CTM Crossroads to Veer Mangal Pandey hall in Nikol where they were felicitated by the members of the organization at a programme.
The procession reportedly started at 10am on Sunday (19 May) with around 1,000 people in attendance. Throughout the processions slogans like ‘Gujarat ka Kesri’ (Lion) were used to laud the former police officers.
Vanzara, speaking briefly on the occasion, said that the rally was just an excuse to spread awareness about nationalism.
As per the report, Vanzara, since getting out on bail, has been regularly participating in rallies and felicitation programmes.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
