Lt Gen (retd) Asad Durrani, former chief of Pakistani spy agency, ISI, has appealed in a High Court against Pakistan Army’s decision of forfeiting his pension and other benefits, over his co authoring a book with his Indian counterpart, reports Business Standard.
Durrani co-authored a book named, “The Spy Chronicles: RAW, ISI and the Illusion of Peace”, with former RAW chief A S Dulat.
The book reportedly explains why a peaceful co existence between India and Pakistan cannot happen in reality, putting light on some of the ever languishing realities and covered issues also included the 26/11 Mumbai attacks and the influence of intelligence agencies on Kashmir et al.
In the book, Durrani suggests that Pakistan mishandled the case of Kulbhushan Jadhav and also went on claim that the erstwhile Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani was fully on board during the US Navy SEALs operation against Osama bin Ladden in his house in the garrison city of Abbotabad happened and a special deal was struck between US and Pakistani establishments on the same issue.
Following the release of the book Durrani incurred the wrath of the Pakistani military and intelligence agencies. Following a Court of Inquiry, Durrani, was debarred from availing pension and other post retirement benefits. Durrani is also ordered not to leave the country.
Durrani headed ISI between August 1990 and March 1992.
