Former Director General of Police (DGP) for Punjab, Kanwar Pal Singh Gill (K P S Gill) passed away at the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi today (26 May). He suffered a sudden cardiac arrest due to cardiac arrhythmia, as reported by ANI.
Doctors at the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital say Gill was suffering from End Stage Kidney Failure and significant Ischemic Heart Disease, and had been recovering from Peritonitis.
Gill, who is credited with bringing the Khalistan terrorist movement under control in the 1980s. He joined the Indian Police Service (IPS) in 1958 and began his career as Inspector General of Police in Assam.
