Former Union Home Secretary Anil Baijal was appointed today (28 December) as the new Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, after President Pranab Mukherjee accepted Najeeb Jung’s resignation. Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj tweeted:
I welcome Shri #AnilBaijal as the Lt.Governor of Delhi.

A 1969-batch Indian Administrative Service officer, Baijal held several eminent positions, including the vice-chairman of Delhi Development Authority and Union Home Secretary during the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government.
He retired in 2006 as Union Urban Development Secretary.
