The Economic Survey was tabled in the Parliament and thereafter released for the public today.
It was presented before the media by Principal Economic Advisor Sanjeev Sanyal. Before Sanyal's presentation, the Chief Economic Advisor, V Anantha Nageswaran, who joined office only two days ago, summarised the main themes of the Economic Survey.
Nageswaran said that the overall theme of the Survey was the same as the themes of the Union government's economic response to Covid and the disruptions that came in its wake.
"The government has pursued a four-pronged approach:
1. Short-term support to the economy, especially the vulnerable sections.
2. Keeping a firm eye on the medium-term fiscal stability
3. Initiating structural and supply-side reforms.
4. Attention to process reforms.
The entire Economic Survey can be found at this link and the Principal Economic Advisor's presentation can be seen here.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
