Mysuru MP Pratap Simha has said that soon, piped gas will be supplied to all homes in Mysuru. At a meeting called by Mysore Grahakara Parishat (MGP), Simha was quoted by Deccan Herald as saying, “Although piped gas connections will meet the requirements of industrial consumers first, residential consumers will get the supply later. This will end our problems of booking, waiting, and delivery of cylinders and the usual demands for delivery charges among other issues.”
Simha said that the government had the moral responsibility to ban tobacco crop, but must also take into consideration the plight of farmers and their families who were dependent on tobacco production. Unless an alternative crop can be found and arranged for cultivation, nothing can be done.
Just met Hon. Commerce Minister @sureshpprabhu Sir along wit d delegation of tobacco growers. He agreed2 fulfill most of the demands n immediately summoned the board director n other officials to give direction. He is the real âPrabhuâ for our coffee n tobacco growers! He also said that the MPLAD (Local Area Development) fund should be increased to Rs 25 crore, since Rs 5 crore didn’t really account for major changes that can be made.
Additionally, he also said that he had been trying to meet experts to plan how to obtain a world heritage site tag for the region, from UNESCO.
