Rajasthan Chief Minister (CM) Ashok Gehlot has come under intense criticism within the Congress party, following its wipe-out in the state in the recently concluded Lok Sabha (LS) election, reports The Hindu.

Gehlot’s cabinet colleague, Lalchand Kataria is reported to have resigned from his post and others demanding a detailed review of the reasons behind the debacle.

Congress, which formed the government in Rajasthan in December 2018, lost all the 25 seats in the state in 2019 LS elections. Gehlot’s son Vaibhav Gehlot himself lost from Jodhpur, drawing a lot of flak over the CM for putting his son above the interests of the party.

“These are internal matters of the party. When such reports appear in the media, they change the context. Rahul Gandhi as our party president has the right to point out a leader’s shortcomings. We have had detailed discussions on these issues,” said Gehlot, responding to questions over the developments within the party circles post election results.
