Government To Open Testing, Isolation And Quarantine Facilities Down To District Level To Check Coronavirus Spread

In its efforts to contain the spread of the deadly Coronavirus (Covid-19), the Union government has decided to open proper testing, isolation and quarantine facilities in various parts of the country, down to the district level in partnerships with the state governments, reports NewsOnAIR.
Besides, the Centre has also decided to implement universal screening at all international airports and sea-ports through the use of thermal imagery equipment as well as mandatory filling of declaration forms of places visited by tourists and travelers returning from abroad.
The decisions were taken on Wednesday (4 March) in a meeting chaired by Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister Dr P K Mishra to review preparedness and response on the novel coronavirus issue.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has been tasked to work closely with the state government, including relevant district administration officials to ensure compliance with screening protocols at the integrated check posts on the land borders.
Besides, decisions were taken in the meeting to rapidly implement opening of proper testing, isolation and quarantine facilities in various parts of the country, down to the district level, with the help of the state governments.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has been tasked to work closely with the Health Ministry to disseminate information to the general public in a timely manner.
