Asserting that strengthening of the border infrastructure is important for India's security, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday (17 July) said that all border fencing gaps with neighbouring Pakistan and Bangladesh will be filled till 2022.
Shah made the announcement while addressing the 18th Border Security Force (BSF) Investiture Ceremony.
Noting that fencing on border with neighbouring Pakistan and Bangladesh is significant in view of security, Shah said, "There is no benefit of fencing the border if gaps are not completely filled. I want to ensure that there will be no gap in fencing on border by 2022."
Shah said that all issues related to the fencing project have been resolved and if there is any hurdle found during implementation of the goal in future will also be solved.
The Union home minister also felicitated personnel of BSF for their service to the nation and also delivered the Rustamji Memorial Lecture, reports Hindustan Times.
"I salute those who have made the supreme sacrifice. These brave hearts and warriors cannot be forgotten. India has a place of pride on the world map due to BSF and our paramilitary forces who are protecting the borders," Shah said.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
