Signalling that he no longer supports incumbent US President Donald Trump, rap artiste Kanye West has reaffirmed that he will be contesting the US presidential election in an interview to Forbes.
West had tweeted on Saturday (July 4) that he would run for president in 2020.
We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States ðºð¸! #2020VISION

Dismissing allegations that he is entering the race to divide the black votes, who overwhelmingly tend to support the Democratic party, West said that he has entered the presidential race to win it.
West said that he will make his 2020 presidential bid under a new banner—the Birthday Party. He said he has received guidance from Elon Musk.
West also said that his decision to make a presidential bid as been endorsed by his wife Kim Kardashian-West
“That is a form of racism and white supremacy and white control to say that all Black people need to be Democrat and to assume that me running is me splitting the vote. All of that information is being charged up on social media platforms by Democrats. And Democrats used to tell me, the same Democrats have threatened me…. “, Kanye said in the interview.
The rapper disclosed to Forbes he tested positive for COVID-19 in February, and expressed skepticism over any vaccines that may be developed to prevent the infection. He called vaccines as “the mark of the beast.”
“I am pro-life because I’m following the word of the bible.”, West said responding to a question on a contentious issue of abortion that has polarised the public opinion in US over the years.
