With rising concerns over the relentless COVID-19 wave in Kerala, Union Minister of Health Mansukh Mandaviya is set to visit the State today (16 August) to review the situation, reports Hindustan Times.
This comes two weeks after Mandaviya had spoken to Chief Minister (CM) Pinarayi Vijayan over the rising COVID-19 cases in the State. Mandaviya had also written to CM Vijayan, seeking the latter's Government's cooperation in managing the pandemic and urging him to take more proactive measures to control the spread of the virus.
It should be noted that even though Kerala accounts for over half of the nationwide fresh cases in the present day, State's Health Minister Veena George was seen asserting yesterday that the pandemic situation in the State is not in panic mode and that the Government is taking all the possible measures to control the spread.
During his visit, Mandaviya will be meeting with both, CM Vijayan and George. During the visit, he will also likely be accompanied by the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and other officials of the ministry.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
