The Union Minister for Home Affairs Amit Shah on Friday (10 January) inaugurated the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) and the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal through which common citizens will be able to report such crimes online, reports Asian News International (ANI).

Approve in October 2018, the state-of-the-art I4C has been set up in New Delhi at a cost of 415.86 crore with the aim to deal with all kinds of cyber crimes in comprehensive and coordinated fashion.

The I4C shall deal with the wide array of cyber crimes with seven of its components- National Cyber Crime Threat Analytics Unit, National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal, National Cyber Crime Training Centre, Cyber Crime Ecosystem management Unit, National Cyber Crime Research and Innovation Centre, Nation Cyber Crime Forensic Laboratory Ecosystem and Platform for Joint Cyber Crime Investigation Team.

It should also be noted that as many as 15 States across the nation have already given their consent for the setting up of the Regional Cyber Crime Coordination Centres.
